This initiative was a joint effort between the Kiwanis Club of Douglaston and Kiwanis HKB Phnom Penh, reflecting our shared commitment to serving children and strengthening communities. Organized by the Kiwanis Club of Klang, the Shanghai Masquerade II Charity Dinner successfully raised nearly RM80,000 towards the ambitious goal of building a brand-new centre for the Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation (KDSF) Klang Centre. With all 16 tables sold and the support of eight corporate sponsors, the event marked a significant milestone in KDSF Klang's journey to create a larger, more sustainable, and purpose-built facility that will serve children and young adults with Down syndrome for generations to come. The evening was further honoured by the presence of Mr. Lee Kuan Yong, Immediate Past President of Kiwanis International, whose attendance reflected the importance of the project not only to the local community but also to the wider Kiwanis family around the world. --- Building More Than a Centre — Building a Future For many years, KDSF Klang Centre has been a place where children and young adults with Down syndrome receive early intervention capabilities, education, life-skills training, developmental support, and the opportunity to thrive in a nurturing environment. Today, the centre supports 38 students, each with unique talents, aspirations, and potential. However, as the needs of the community continue to grow, so does the need for a larger and better-equipped facility. The proposed new KDSF Klang Centre is envisioned as more than just a building. It will be a dedicated centre of excellence designed to provide enhanced learning spaces, improved accessibility, specialised training facilities, and a safe environment where students can continue developing the skills needed to live fuller and more independent lives. Every contribution made during Shanghai Masquerade II brings this vision one step closer to reality. --- A Night of Elegance with a Purpose Inspired by the glamour and mystique of old Shanghai, guests arrived dressed in stunning masquerade-themed attire, transforming the ballroom into a vibrant celebration of culture, fellowship, and philanthropy. The evening featured fine dining, entertainment, fundraising activities, and moments of reflection that highlighted the life-changing work carried out by KDSF Klang Centre. Among the highlights was a spirited auction featuring two exclusive collector's items: a rare bottle of Kao Liang and a premium Tennessee whiskey. Strengthening Pediatric Rehabilitation: Kiwanis Rehabilitation Room Opens at Penang Hospital Penang, Malaysia – The Penang State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing public healthcare and safeguarding the welfare of children with the official opening of the Kiwanis Rehabilitation Room at Ward C2, Penang Hospital. This new facility is designed to broaden access to comprehensive pediatric rehabilitation services, enabling young patients to undergo recovery in a more effective and structured manner. State Executive Councillor for Youth, Sports and Health, YB Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, emphasized that the facility is not merely an addition to hospital infrastructure but a vital enhancement to the holistic treatment process for pediatric patients. As a leading referral hospital for subspecialties and tertiary care in northern Peninsular Malaysia, Penang Hospital plays a pivotal role in ensuring children receive optimal rehabilitation opportunities before resuming their daily lives. The new rehabilitation room is expected to reduce risks of complications and hospital readmissions, while ensuring continuity of care is delivered more effectively. ✨ Kiwanis Malaysia District Mid‑Term 2026 9th May 2026, this year’s Mid‑Term Meeting is proudly hosted at KGSAAS, Shah Alam, uniting dedicated members from across the states to reaffirm our mission of service, fellowship and impact.

On 24 April 2026, members and guests gathered for Talking SENse, an initiative by the Kiwanis Club of Taman Tun Dr Ismail (KCTTDI) aimed at fostering deeper conversations around special educational needs. The session featured neuropsychologist Dr Nancy Menon, who shared both her professional expertise and personal experiences in supporting neurodivergent children with behavioural challenges. Her insights offered a powerful reminder that behaviour is often a form of communication—one that requires understanding, patience, and the right support systems. Through real-life examples and practical perspectives, attendees gained a clearer understanding of how to approach behaviour with empathy, moving beyond labels to better support children in their environments at home, school, and in the community. Talking SENse continues to be a meaningful platform for raising awareness, reducing stigma, and equipping families, educators, and the wider community with knowledge that makes a difference.

On 19 April 2026, the Kiwanis Club of Taman Tun Dr Ismail (KCTTDI) hosted a warm and meaningful Hari Raya Fellowship at Turkish Istanbul Café, bringing together both members and non-members for an afternoon of connection, reflection, and shared purpose. We were honoured by the presence of Puan Sri Datuk Hjh Khir Johari, whose attendance added to the significance of the gathering. The session provided an opportunity to update attendees on several key initiatives that continue to shape the club’s impact. Among them was the Kiwanis Child Development Centre (KCDC)—an important initiative focused on providing accessible early intervention and therapy services to children from underserved communities. Guests were also introduced to the Service Leadership Programme (SLP), Kiwanis’ youth development platform that empowers young people through leadership, service, and community engagement. In addition, updates were shared on the upcoming SEN Summit 2026, as well as Talking SENse, a platform aimed at fostering greater awareness, understanding, and conversations around special educational needs. Beyond the updates, the fellowship was a celebration of community—marked by good food, meaningful conversations, and the joyful celebration of April-born members.
