The Kiwanis Child Development Centre (KCDC) is dedicated to early intervention—supporting neurodivergent children during their most critical stages of development, from the early years through early school age. This is a pivotal period when essential social, communication, and cognitive foundations are formed. Through this initiative, KCDC aims to provide essential therapy services to approximately 60 to 80 neurodivergent children annually, up to the age of 12, who experience sensory and developmental challenges. Priority will be given to children from marginalised communities and families facing socio-economic challenges. According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (December 2025), the average monthly gross household income for families with at least one person with a disability increased from RM5,679 in 2022 to RM6,540 in 2024. However, household expenditure has also risen significantly—from RM3,974 in 2022 to RM4,545 in 2024. For many of these families, early intervention services may be viewed as a luxury, secondary to essential needs such as food, housing, and daily living expenses. In response, KCDC is committed to making therapy more accessible by offering services at subsidised rates for lower-income families. In line with Kiwanis’ mission of serving the children of the world, KCDC will be managed and operated by the Kiwanis Club of Taman Tun Dr Ismail, in collaboration with certified allied health professionals. Beginning May 2026, KCDC will offer Occupational Therapy at subsidised rates, prioritising families within the B40 income group. Subsidised Therapy – Eligibility CriteriaChild Eligibility To qualify, the child must: Be 12 years old and belowBe a Malaysian citizenPresent with developmental delay or neurodevelopmental concerns, including:Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)ADHDSpeech or language delayGlobal developmental delaySensory processing challengesLearning-related developmental concernsHousehold Financial Eligibility (B40 Priority) Families must: Fall within the B40 income group or equivalent low-income categoryRecommended threshold: RM5,300/month and below Assessment will also consider: Number of dependentsHousehold circumstances (e.g. single-parent families, caregiving responsibilities, medical needs) Priority will be given to: B40 householdsFamilies with higher caregiving burdenRequired Supporting DocumentsFinancial Documents (any 1–2):Latest 1–3 months’ payslipsEPF or income tax statementBank statements (for self-employed individuals)JKM / Zakat assistance documentationLetter of employment or unemployment declarationChild Development / Diagnosis Proof A formal diagnosis is preferred but not mandatory. President Adeline with 6 club members and 2 volunteers visited the center with lunch cooked by our members to celebrate the 7th day of Lunar New Year ie everyone' s birthday . The center houses 21 residents with varying physical needs and personal circumstances . The residents and staff enjoyed the lunch and Mr Lee , the center manager , thanked us for bringing cheer to the residents . After lunch , each resident and staff was presented with an angpow and Mandarin oranges . We are glad that we are able to bring smiles to their faces and we hope to reach out to more senior homes and bring smiles and support to the residents . On 28 Jan 2026 20 Mynamar students from Zo Learning center visited the Aquaria KLCC sponsored by Lovns Cafe after a meal of sandwiches and drinks at the cafe in Pavilion KL. Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation Johor Bahru Centre The Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation Johor Bahru Centre is a long‑term community project proudly established by the Kiwanis Club of Johor Bahru. In 2025, we celebrate 34 years of service and commitment to children with Down syndrome and their families. Since its founding, the centre has been dedicated to nurturing children through a specialized Early Intervention Program designed for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers aged 6 months to 9 years.
