What Does It Mean to be a Kiwanis Club Member?
What a great question! If you are already a member of a Kiwanis club or if you are seeing this because you are considering becoming a Kiwanian, then read on!

First and foremost, a Kiwanian must possess a generous heart, eager to serve voluntarily. Within our volunteer community, we dedicate our time and skills to uplift our communities.

As club members, we orchestrate and oversee service projects, with a primary emphasis on supporting the youth. Whether it’s acting as adult supervisors, mentors, or fulfilling diverse roles, we willingly step forward. The club seeks individuals with compassionate hearts and capable hands to collaborate with donors, coordinate dinner gatherings, fundraise, and/or even craft engaging articles for our website.

Guiding the club is a distinctive act of service, a role steeped in significance. Efforts aimed at expanding membership and ensuring the club aligns seamlessly with both Kiwanis International and our Register of Societies empower us to amplify our impact in serving children and communities.

Kiwanis clubs embrace inclusivity, eagerly embracing new members from a rich tapestry of backgrounds. Within a typical club, a harmonious blend unfolds, uniting seniors and youth, professionals, and retirees, both Malaysians and resident foreigners. We seek kindred spirits who resonate with our lofty ideals and shared aspirations, individuals ablaze with a fervour to nurture and safeguard our youth, and who enthusiastically invest their time in meaningful engagement.

Prospective members step into the club through the gracious introduction of an existing member, acting as a sponsor to facilitate their membership. Typically, although with exceptions, this unfolds after a series of initial engagements, often occurring during a dinner gathering or a service project.

Monthly, clubs assemble for a delightful blend of camaraderie, engaging in thoughtful dialogues about club affairs, meticulously crafting plans for service initiatives. Occasionally, we extend invitations to captivating guest speakers, adding a vibrant touch to our gatherings. Moreover, we’re encouraged to actively engage in divisional, district, regional, and international conventions, promising an enriching experience where fresh friendships flourish. Within the expansive Kiwanis network of over 8,000 clubs and 200,000 members globally, we encounter a diverse array of remarkable individuals. Kiwanis offers us the privilege to connect with genuinely affable and intriguing personalities, broadening our networks, all while passionately supporting youth and honing indispensable hands-on leadership skills.
