Kids need computer

Project by Kiwanis Muar

Description

In the modern world, access to technology is no longer a privilege—it is a fundamental need. At the Kiwanis Special Needs Centre in Muar, many of our children still lack access to basic computers, limiting their opportunities for learning, development, and self-expression.
"Kids Need Computer" is a project dedicated to bridging this digital gap. Our goal is to provide computers and digital learning tools to special needs children, enabling them to explore new skills, access educational resources, and grow with confidence in today’s digital age.
These children are full of potential. With the right tools, they can not only learn but thrive. Computers can help them develop communication skills, hand-eye coordination, digital literacy, and creativity. Most importantly, it empowers them to feel included in a world where technology touches every part of life.
How Your Contribution Helps
Your donation will support:
  1. The purchase of computers and necessary accessories such as keyboards, headphones, and mouse
  2. Basic digital learning software tailored to special needs education
  3. A dedicated learning space for guided computer sessions
  4. Training for educators to support children in using technology effectively
Every contribution, no matter the amount, brings us closer to creating an inclusive and empowered learning environment. Together, we can give every child the chance to discover their abilities and potential through the power of technology.
Help us build a better future, one computer at a time.

Kiwanis Child Development Centre (KCDC)

The Kiwanis Child Development Centre (KCDC) intends to focus on early intervention, i.e. meeting the needs of neurodivergent children during their most critical development phases from early year to early school age when key social, communication, and brain development occurs. The project will therefore offer essential therapy to 60 to 80 neurodivergent children per year, up to the age of 12, who are living with sensory  and developmental challenges. Priority will be accorded to children from marginalised communities and those facing socio-economic challenges. According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (December 2025), the average monthly gross income for households with at least one person with a disability was RM 6, 540 in 2024, from RM 5,679 in 2022. At the same time, household expenditure has risen from RM 3,974 in 2022 to RM 4, 545 in 2024. For such households, early intervention programmes may therefore be considered a luxury as opposed to putting food on the table, paying rent and other expenses. With this in mind, KCDC will offer services to lower-income families at subsidised rates.  In line with our ethos of serving the children of the world, KCDC will be managed and operated by the Kiwanis Club of Taman Tun Dr Ismail, in collaboration with certified professionals in the various fields of allied health. In May 2026, we will offer Occupational Therapy at a subsidised rate to B40 communities. Applications are open via Google form in English and Bahasa Melayu.
