The Playground’s Journey of Joy

News from Kiwanis Klang

Description

When a local kindergarten had to relocate and couldn’t take their large playground set with them, we saw a chance to give this structure new life at a place where it could bring joy. Governor Olivia and I immediately thought of the Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation Klang Centre, envisioning the children there enjoying this gift. Unfortunately, we soon discovered that the playground was too big for our space. It was a surprising setback, but we knew we couldn’t give up.
As fate would have it, our neighbours at the Salvation Home Orphanage, led by Pastor Sundar, became our next hopeful destination. Moving the playground there brought so much happiness to the children. Seeing them laugh, run, and play on the playground was a joy beyond words; it was a reminder of why we do what we do. But soon, another twist came along. In October, Pastor Sundar informed us that the orphanage had to move, leaving behind the beloved playground.
Realizing the urgency, I reached out to our Kiwanis Lieutenant Governors for guidance. By a stroke of luck, LG Division 3 said that the Kiwanis Club of Kuantan was eager to take on this playground for their own children's center. Filled with hope once more, our Vice President, Dennis Yam and I joined in, and we organized transport to bring the playground to its new home. However, the first attempt fell short as the truck couldn’t handle the playground's size.
With renewed determination, we set a new moving date and arranged for a bigger lorry and a team to help dismantle the structure. After hours of work, the playground was finally loaded and made its way to Kuantan. However, when it arrived late that night, the gates were locked due to Deepavali celebrations, and the playground remained outside, waiting for one final journey.
Today, on November 8, 2024, the playground has found its forever home at the Kiwanis Club of Kuantan Children’s Center. This journey, though filled with unexpected twists, was worth every effort. We hope that this playground becomes a place of joy, laughter, and connection for the children in Kuantan—a testament to the shared commitment of our community and the spirit of giving. We would like to thank all the relevant parties involved in this arrangement of supply, transport and installation of this playground.

Creating Spaces for Comfort, Hope, and Stories

Creating Spaces for Comfort, Hope, and Stories The Kiwanis Club of Visionaries (KCV) is proud to support the launch of a community reading space at Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur, in collaboration with Books For A Better World (BFBW). Hospitals are places where people seek healing — but the waiting can sometimes be difficult for patients, families, and caregivers. Sometimes, a simple book can provide a moment of calm, comfort, or inspiration. Through this reading corner, visitors and staff can browse and enjoy a selection of pre-loved books while spending time at the hospital. This initiative reflects the shared belief of KCV and BFBW that books can uplift spirits, encourage learning, and bring communities together. We would like to thank the team at Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur for supporting this meaningful initiative and providing a space where reading can bring comfort to many. At Kiwanis, our mission is simple: 🌍 Serving the children of the world 📚 Promoting learning and literacy ❤️ Strengthening communities Together with partners like Books For A Better World, we will continue to create more reading spaces that inspire and uplift. #Kiwanis #KiwanisClubOfVisionaries #CommunityService #Literacy #BooksForABetterWorld #ServingTheChildrenOfTheWorld #Malaysia

A Joyful Lunar New Year Celebration with All Kiwanians28 Feb 267Pantai KL

A Joyful Lunar New Year Celebration with All Kiwanians

The Kiwanis Club of Pantai KL ushered in the Lunar New Year with a joyful and heartwarming gathering at the home of our Chartered President, Adeline. The celebration brought together not only members of our own club but also fellow Kiwanians from several other clubs, making it a truly wonderful evening of friendship, fellowship, and festive spirit. The highlight of the afternoon was the traditional “Lou Sang” (Prosperity Toss) ceremony. Members gathered around the table to toss the colorful ingredients of the Yee Sang high into the air while exchanging auspicious wishes for prosperity, good health, and happiness in the year ahead. The cheerful laughter and enthusiastic tossing perfectly reflected the joyful spirit of the Lunar New Year. Adding to the festive mood, guests also enjoyed the tradition of receiving Ang Pao, symbolizing blessings and good fortune for the coming year. These small gestures of kindness and goodwill further strengthened the bonds among members and friends of Kiwanis. Of course, no celebration is complete without delicious food. Adeline graciously hosted the evening and prepared a wonderful spread of festive dishes for everyone to enjoy. Members spent the evening sharing stories, reconnecting with friends, and welcoming new acquaintances in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Events like this remind us that beyond service projects and community work, Kiwanis is also about building lasting friendships and supporting one another as a family of volunteers dedicated to serving children and communities. The Kiwanis Club of Pantai KL would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Adeline for her generous hospitality and to all the Kiwanians who joined us to celebrate this special occasion together. As we welcome the new year, we look forward to another meaningful year of service, fellowship, and impact. Gong Xi Fa Cai and Happy Lunar New Year from the Kiwanis Club of Pantai KL!
