Photo from our recent KCV Networking Session
Yesterday we had the honour of hosting Dietitian Mary Easaw, and oh, what a session — she walked us through the principles and practice of mindful eating.
A little about Mary’s background (so you know why her talk was gold):
• She is the Consultant Dietitian at Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur (CVSKL) and KL Integrated Oncology Centre (KLIOC).
• She has over 30 years of experience in the field of dietetics in Malaysia.
• In 2016, she was named Outstanding Dietitian of the Year by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics — the first Malaysian to receive that honour.
• She frequently shares her expertise in public talks, hospital forums, and media on topics such as heart health, nutrition, and behaviour change.
During the session, Mary reminded us that mindful eating is more than just what we eat — it’s how we eat, how present we are, how we recall and reflect. She led us through simple reminders: slow down, savour, pause, feel fullness cues, and most importantly, forgive yourself when you don’t always follow “perfectly.”
If you missed this one — no worries. Stay tuned for our next KCV networking event. You’ll want to be there to listen, learn, and connect.
A big thank you to Mary for her wisdom, and to everyone who joined and contributed to the energy yesterday. Let’s keep practising kindness — to others and to ourselves (especially at mealtimes). 🙏

Creating Spaces for Comfort, Hope, and Stories

Creating Spaces for Comfort, Hope, and Stories The Kiwanis Club of Visionaries (KCV) is proud to support the launch of a community reading space at Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur, in collaboration with Books For A Better World (BFBW). Hospitals are places where people seek healing — but the waiting can sometimes be difficult for patients, families, and caregivers. Sometimes, a simple book can provide a moment of calm, comfort, or inspiration. Through this reading corner, visitors and staff can browse and enjoy a selection of pre-loved books while spending time at the hospital. This initiative reflects the shared belief of KCV and BFBW that books can uplift spirits, encourage learning, and bring communities together. We would like to thank the team at Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur for supporting this meaningful initiative and providing a space where reading can bring comfort to many. At Kiwanis, our mission is simple: 🌍 Serving the children of the world 📚 Promoting learning and literacy ❤️ Strengthening communities Together with partners like Books For A Better World, we will continue to create more reading spaces that inspire and uplift. #Kiwanis #KiwanisClubOfVisionaries #CommunityService #Literacy #BooksForABetterWorld #ServingTheChildrenOfTheWorld #Malaysia

Service is strongest when partnerships come together

Service is strongest when partnerships come together. The Kiwanis Club of Visionaries is honoured to collaborate with Books For A Better World (BFBW) and Gains Global (Bauli Malaysia) to turn excess food stock into meaningful community impact. When Gains Global reached out to donate their surplus items, we worked together to ensure these treats reached communities that would truly appreciate them. Together, we distributed the donated goodies to: 🏫 Raphael Academy – bringing smiles and excitement to the children 🏡 En Yuan Old Folks Home – sharing warmth and cheer with our senior citizens This collaboration reflects what Kiwanis is all about — serving the community, reducing wastage, and creating positive change through teamwork. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to: 🙏 Gains Global (Bauli Malaysia) for their generosity and social responsibility 📚 Books For A Better World (BFBW) for coordinating and facilitating this meaningful initiative It is partnerships like these that allow us to serve more, reach more, and do more good together. #KiwanisClubOfVisionaries #KiwanisMalaysia #GainsGlobal #BauliMalaysia #BooksForABetterWorld #CommunityService #FoodDonation #ReduceWastage #ServingTheChildren #ServingTheElderly #TogetherWeCan
