"A Day of Dignity, Delight, and Dedication"

On the bright morning of December 13th, the skies smiled upon Klang as volunteers and families gathered for the Kiwanis Club of Klang and Kiwanis Klang Synergy’s “Back to School” initiative. A heartfelt mission to equip underprivileged children with school essentials and a renewed sense of confidence.
The day began with camaraderie and culinary joy. By 10:30 AM, early arrivals including Nik, Mr. & Mrs. Sundram and Susila met up for a hearty nasi campur Melayu along Jalan Taping. The highlight? Paru masak lemak~ fuyohh! Sedap tak terkata! It was the kind of meal that fuels both body and spirit before a meaningful day of service!
At exactly 11:00 AM, the team regrouped at Indah Pesona Concept Store. Thila, Kumar, Grace, Chris , Dato Stewart , Rodney & family were already in action, welcoming families who had come to select school gear. The store buzzed with energy as children tried on school shoes, matched uniforms with pride and chose stylish backpacks ready to carry both books and dreams.
A special mention must go to the lady boss and the crew of Indah Pesona Concept Store, whose warmth and attentiveness made all the difference. They were truly helpful, guiding each family with care to find the right fit, whether it was the perfect pair of shoes or a backpack that matched both size and spirit added a layer of grace to the day’s mission.
The arrival of the K-Kids from SJK Tamil Jalan Tepi Sungai, Klang, together with their teachers, brought bright smiles as they received their gifts of school essentials, embodying the spirit of hope and possibility that education brings.
By 12:20 PM, the event wrapped up with smiles all around. Cameras clicked away, capturing moments of joy as children held their new school kits with hope and readiness for the year ahead.
A special shoutout goes to Lay Hong Berhad for their generous sponsorship of Nutriplus halal-certified ready-to-eat rice meals. These meals, perfect for both home and travel, added a comforting touch to the day’s offerings.
The event concluded with a cheerful group photo, sealing the memory of a morning filled with laughter, purpose and community spirit. Every child left not just with supplies, but with the dignity to walk into school proud and prepared.

Talking SENse: Understanding Behaviour Through a New Lens

On 24 April 2026, members and guests gathered for Talking SENse, an initiative by the Kiwanis Club of Taman Tun Dr Ismail (KCTTDI) aimed at fostering deeper conversations around special educational needs. The session featured neuropsychologist Dr Nancy Menon, who shared both her professional expertise and personal experiences in supporting neurodivergent children with behavioural challenges. Her insights offered a powerful reminder that behaviour is often a form of communication—one that requires understanding, patience, and the right support systems. Through real-life examples and practical perspectives, attendees gained a clearer understanding of how to approach behaviour with empathy, moving beyond labels to better support children in their environments at home, school, and in the community. Talking SENse continues to be a meaningful platform for raising awareness, reducing stigma, and equipping families, educators, and the wider community with knowledge that makes a difference.

KCTTDI Hari Raya Fellowship: Connecting, Sharing & Moving Forward Together

On 19 April 2026, the Kiwanis Club of Taman Tun Dr Ismail (KCTTDI) hosted a warm and meaningful Hari Raya Fellowship at Turkish Istanbul Café, bringing together both members and non-members for an afternoon of connection, reflection, and shared purpose. We were honoured by the presence of Puan Sri Datuk Hjh Khir Johari, whose attendance added to the significance of the gathering. The session provided an opportunity to update attendees on several key initiatives that continue to shape the club’s impact. Among them was the Kiwanis Child Development Centre (KCDC)—an important initiative focused on providing accessible early intervention and therapy services to children from underserved communities. Guests were also introduced to the Service Leadership Programme (SLP), Kiwanis’ youth development platform that empowers young people through leadership, service, and community engagement. In addition, updates were shared on the upcoming SEN Summit 2026, as well as Talking SENse, a platform aimed at fostering greater awareness, understanding, and conversations around special educational needs. Beyond the updates, the fellowship was a celebration of community—marked by good food, meaningful conversations, and the joyful celebration of April-born members. Events like these reflect the heart of Kiwanis: building connections, raising awareness, and inviting more people to be part of a shared mission to serve the children of the world.
