In 2017, these two clubs came together to establish the Kiwanis Activity Center, dedicated to supporting children with special needs. Currently, the Activity Center serves 20 students and provides a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for them to learn, grow, and develop essential life skills. The center focuses on fostering independence through daily routines and activities such as sweeping, mopping, cooking, and gardening. Students also engage in creative and social development through singing, dancing, and play. For many families, the center has become a cherished place that offers structure, purpose, and joy for their children. Operating from Wednesday to Sunday, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, the center is staffed by a dedicated team that includes a special education teacher, two mothers of special needs children, and a talented young adult with special needs who contributes significantly to the program. In addition to in-center activities, regular outdoor programs are organized to encourage community interaction and promote inclusivity. As the need continues to grow, the center has recognized that many more special children in the community require support. To address this, a larger space is essential. In 2024, with the generous support of the community, the center successfully acquired a new building located behind Anson Bali Hotel on Jalan Manggis, Perak. This new facility offers the opportunity to expand and reach more children, but it requires significant renovations and ongoing operational funding. The proceeds from this fundraising dinner will be used to support the renovation and operational costs of the new Kiwanis Activity Center, ensuring it continues to be a beacon of hope and growth for children with special needs.
